Wicked

Wicked the smash hit theatre show is going on a UK tour in 2023/24. Coming to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre from 20th June – 14th July 2024.

Wicked is a musical that premiered on Broadway in 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. It is based on the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. Which is a retelling of L. Frank Baum’s classic novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The show explores the untold story of the witches of Oz. Particularly the friendship between Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.

The story takes place before and during the events of The Wizard of Oz. Beginning with the birth of Elphaba, who is born with green skin and is initially ostracized by her peers. She befriends the popular and bubbly Glinda, and the two embark on a journey that leads them to the Wizard of Oz. And ultimately sets the stage for the events of the classic novel. Along the way, they face personal and political challenges. Including discrimination, love, betrayal, and the corrupt and oppressive government of Oz.

Wicked is known for its catchy songs, dynamic choreography, and stunning sets and costumes. It has won numerous awards, including three Tony Awards and a Grammy Award. And has become one of the most popular musicals of all time. The show has been performed around the world, with productions in London, Tokyo, Sydney, and many other cities.

Tickets are on sale now for Wicked and will start at £20.00 for the cheapest seats and go up to £127.50 for the most expensive. The first performance will be on the 20th June 2024 and the last show will be on the 14th July 2024. Get your tickets today!
